KEY POINTS:
Check for regular updates from The Edge's Vaughan Smith at Rock2Wellington over Easter weekend.
Waking up in the capital this morning there was a formidable scent in the air. The aroma can be attributed to denim (only black), greasy hair, motorcycles and that odd tomato plant that never seems to have any tomatoes.
It's a stench that is overpowering the usual political odour and will for the rest of Easter weekend, even more so than chocolate and chocolatey products.
The day starts with a hearty breakfast of steak, potatoes and a beer, Lion Red of course, and now everyone is talking about costumes for the first night's gig.
It would be rude not to go in some sort of themed attire.
Kiss face paint is decided on across the board, but no one wants to be Peter Criss' "Cat-man" alter ego because it turns out no one likes Peter Criss.
Most seek out the Gene Simmons "Demon" or the Paul Stanley "Space Ace".
There will be a draw later in the afternoon for who goes as who and someone will have to go as Criss' Cat-man.
Now we are off to seek out Kiss T-shirts, or Alice Cooper if worst comes to worst.
Perhaps we're leaving our run late though - I'm sure we are not the only people hoping to pick up some last minute Kiss gear on the opening day of Rock2Wellington.
