Florence Welch, Lorde and Stevie Nicks are all in town and all are invited to tonight's Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards, we are day dreaming of the possibility they may all end up in one room.
The Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards are set to kick off at Auckland's Vector Arena, with stars taking the red carpet from 6pm on the biggest night for Kiwi music. We have a few hopeful predictions as to how it should all play out.
1. Lorde, Stevie Nicks and Florence Welch in one room
Just imagine if these three powerhouse women sat next to each other? Sure, the universe might implode with their combined awesomeness but it would be worth it.
All three are in town this weekend, with Lorde jetting in from New York to present tonight's Breakthrough Artist Award.
We know Florence has been invited to the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards, but will she show ahead of her Vector Arena performance on Saturday?
The queen of velvet, Stevie, is in town for Fleetwood Mac's Mt Smart show, also Saturday night, and is reported to have an invite in her hot little hand.
Just imagine a dance floor where these ladies let loose with their signature moves.
2. Tributes a plenty
There's bound to be a mention of New Zealand's rock star of rugby Jonah Lomu, who died yesterday, aged 40.
After digging out a copy of Jonah, Volume 2 we had to ask ourselves would it be too late to add this to best mix album by a rugby player ever?
Of course, the entire evening is dedicated to another Kiwi legend - rock 'n' roll poet Graham Brazier, while composer Jack Body will be remembered for his achievements.
We don't expect terror attacks on Paris, and the ripple effect they've had on the world's music industry, to go unmentioned either.
3. Topshop Shocker
We're sure the clothing sponsor will be more restrained when dressing tonight's celebrities, but it would be great to see some brave soul turn up in this terrifying space age sack dress.
We get that metallics and skivvy necks are trending but this particular combination is more alien invasion than modern chic - and the type of fodder that will go straight to our worst dressed pages.
4. Taika Waititi channeling Peter Sinclair
We've seen tonight's host Taika Waititi take wardrobe cues from this broadcasting great but now we'd like to see him try the oh-so-posh English (Kiwi) accent.
Sinclair was also well known for never fluffing a line, and shunning the drugs and booze of showbiz. Hmmm.
5. A stadium-wide singalong for The Exponents
The ultimate purveyors of 'piss up' songs will be honoured with the New Zealand Herald Legacy Award tonight, entering the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame. We can't wait to see the great and the good of the industry stand up and join in a singalong to mark the occasion.
The question is, Why Does Love Do This To Me? and Who Loves Who The Most?. Let's just hope nobody Sinks Like a Stone in the mosh pit.
