The first trailer for Star Trek Beyond has landed with new director Justin Lin bringing a distinct change in tone to the franchise.
Lin, who helmed three Fast & Furious films, brings motorbikes and explosions to a soundtrack of the Beastie Boy's hit Sabotage, to the series known for former director JJ Abram's brand of tense sci-fi drama.
The trailer also gives fans a first look at Idris Elba as a so far unnamed alien villain.
