The female driven Paul Feig-directed reboot, which also features Australia's Chris Hemsworth as a secretary, has begun filmingin Boston.
Photos show McCarthy and McKinnon emerging from a school. McCarthy looks like she has had a supernatural encounter and is carrying a silver container, while there appears to be slime on McKinnon's overalls.
Wiig, who is rumoured to play a university professor with an interest in ghosts, looks rather bookish in a matching grey, plaid jacket and skirt.
