The first trailer for the highly anticipated movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games has hit the net.
Not due out until March, the first film of a planned trilogy is expected to be the next series after Twilight and Harry Potter to win over young fans in their droves.
The futuristic film follows teenagers sent in to battle for their lives as part of a live television spectacular in a world ravaged by drought, famine, fire and war.
Catching Fire, Collins' second book, will also be made into a film.
The Hunger Games is released in New Zealand on March 22.
