The first trailer for the new Jimi Hendrix biopic Jimi: All is By My Side has been released, giving a first glimpse of OutKast's Andre 3000 in his role as the music legend.
Written by 12 Years A Slave screenwriter John Ridley, the film follows the young musician in one formative year of his life as he tries to make it big on the music scene traveling from New York to London.
The trailer sets the scene in 1966 in the midst of the swinging Sixties in London. Andre 3000, real name Andre Benjamin, stars as a young Hendrix trying to make a name for himself while dating a number of British women.
Halfway through, the trailer shifts its focus from Hendrix's personal life to his musical career, with a scene of the young guitarist playing to an audience in a packed venue.
In another scene, he says: "I want my music to go inside the soul of a person. For me it's colours, I want people to feel the music the same way I see it."
