Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish have shown off new baby Zachary for the first time since his birth on Christmas Day.
In an exclusive interview with OK! magazine, the proud parents opened up about the arrival of their son from their Los Angeles home.
Speaking about holding Zachary for the first time, Elton said he had "never felt anything like it before".
"You're so awestruck, I will never forget that feeling ever."
Elton, 63, married David, 48, in 2005 after they had been in a relationship for 12 years. Zachary was born to a surrogate mother.
"I'm ready to have a child and lavish my love on our son and not spoil him materially," Elton said.
He said no words could sum up the experience of watching the birth.
"He shot out like a rocket. There just aren't proper words to describe that feeling. It's indescribable.
"It was just, 'We have a son'!"
They also addressed their previous, unsuccessful attempts to adopt two Ukranian orphans in 2009 and say they want to do everything they can to find the children a home.
"We're still consulting about finding the best possible home for them," said Elton.
David added: "We feel awful. We keep hitting red tape. But we're not giving up until they're out and in a safe, supported home."
Elton and David continue to support Lev and his brother, Artyom, financially.
Proceeds from the article will be given to charities chosen by the couple.
