KEY POINTS:
Neil Finn is helming another all-star concert series in Auckland - and recording a studio album at the same time.
In 2001, Finn's 7 Worlds Collide week-long season filled the St James Theatre with a supergroup featuring members of Radiohead, Pearl Jam and the Smiths. He's reprised the concept for a guest-heavy concert series at the Powerstation in January, which will run in parallel with recording sessions at Finn's Roundhead Studios nearby for an album to raise funds for Oxfam International.
As well as Radiohead's Ed O'Brien and Phil Selway, and former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, Finn will be joined by four members of acclaimed American band Wilco, British singer-songwriter KT Tunstall and locals including Don McGlashan, Bic Runga and his son Liam.
"It will be really intense," Finn told the Herald this week.
"We have got to pull off making an album in less than three weeks and that is a really big ask for anybody."
