KEY POINTS:
The final book in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series will be split into two films it was reported today.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be developed as two films to be released in November 2010 and May 2011, the LA Times has reported.
The two movies, which will be filmed concurrently, will be named Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, according to the Times.
David Yates, who directed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and is currently filming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will return to make the two Hallows movies.
Daniel Radcliffe, the 18-year-old actor who plays the young wizard Harry, is pleased about the decision to make two films of the book.
"I think it's the only way you can do it without cutting out a huge portion of the book," Radcliffe told the Times.
"The seventh book doesn't really have any subplots. It's one driving, pounding story from the word go."
Because of this, the plot may prove difficult to separate into two movies.
"The question will be, where do you break it?" Yates told the Times.
"And how do you make them one but two separate and distinct stories? Do you break it with a moment of suspense or one of resolution?"
