The Greenhornes, a portion of which form The Raconteurs' rhythm section (along with Brendan Benson and Jack White), will return to the Big Day Out for 2011.
The Ohio three-piece are one of a handful of international acts released for the second and final announcement, alongside a hefty list of local bands for Australasia's rite-of-passage festival.
Other acts flying in include Australian dance-pop provider SIA (Sia Fuller) and Detroit Hop Hop producer and emcee - Black Milk.
In the local line-up, The Mint Chicks' Kody Nielson has joined forces with Bic Runga to form Kody & Bic. Kody has been producing Runga's next album over recent months and the idea for the double up came from that collaboration.
"It's still pretty rock 'n' roll but it's not your usual four-piece punk band," Nielson told TimeOut.
Also on the bill are The Phoenix Foundation, 1995, HomeBrew, Family Cactus, Grayson Gilmour, Surf City, Computers Want Me Dead, Mt Eden Dubstep, Luger Boa, Bang Bang Eche, Tommy Ill, Harry the Bastard, Aural Trash (DJ's Greg Churchill and Angela Fisken), DJ CXL, DJ Meltron, Ghost, Steriogram, Knives At Noon, The Earlybirds and two bands who impressed with their finalist-cover-performances at this year's Silver Scroll Awards - The Unfaithful Ways and Three Houses Down.
Lilyworld, the festival's home of the weird and/or unexpected, will host Matt and Kim, Reggie Watts, Wunmi, Red Bacteria Vacuum, The Balloonatic and the Turnaround Crew.
The Silent Disco also returns, this time with two-channel headphones giving the unselfconscious revellers the option of wigging out to either the resident or guest DJs. The roster includes DJs Sam Hill, Andrew Tidball, General Lee, Red Falcon, Josh on Decks and DJ Bassic.
These are all of course in addition to the bands already announced.
