In a semi-regular feature we'll be running until The Force Awakens is unleashed on December 17, here's our wrap of all the Star Wars things that happened today.
1. A quick catch up
If you're needing a quick refresher on the previous six Star Wars movies but don't have the time to watch them all before December 17, firstly, you obviously need to sort out your priorities. Secondly, you can now watch all six movies condensed down into a 3-minute video. Watch below - but beware, it literally has ALL the major plot spoilers for the previous films.
Daisy Ridley "wanted to die" on the first day of shooting the new Star Wars movie after director J.J. Abrams publicly criticised her "wooden" acting ... Ouch!
Talking to Britain's Glamour magazine, Ridley said, "I thought I was gonna have a panic attack on the first day. Because J.J. ... he probably doesn't remember telling me that my performance was wooden. This was the first day! And I honestly wanted to die. I thought I was gonna cry, I couldn't breathe." 3. Why George Lucas turned his back on Star Wars
Since selling Lucasfilm Ltd. to Disney three years ago in a jaw-dropping $4 billion deal (which included handing over Star Wars, Indiana Jones, all of it), Lucas has had no connection to the new film, despite initial reports that he would play a consulting role. He says that Disney "decided they didn't like" the stories he'd outlined for the sequels. It became clear to him that his baby was going its own way, and at light speed. Disney is now building two huge Star Wars theme parks and has additional movie projects - besides Episodes VIII and IX - in the works.
"I call it like a divorce," Lucas says candidly. He always knew that at some point he'd have to part with Star Wars in order for the franchise to go on living. Read the full article here.
4. Leia forced to lose it
Carrie Fisher revealed to
Good Housekeeping
that she had to drop some pounds if she wanted to be a part of
. "They don't want to hire all of me - only about three-quarters!" Fisher said. The 59 year-old star said she felt pressured to lose more than 15kg to step back into her role as Princess Leia.
"Nothing changes, it's an appearance-driven thing. I'm in a business where the only thing that matters is weight and appearance. That is so messed up. They might as well say get younger, because that's how easy it is."
5. There's going to be a new cantina scene
And J.J. Abrams let slip on The Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon that he has teamed up with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda to score the scene.
We did. Worked on it between 6pm & 7:30 on 2 show days for the past 2 months. JJ is the best. Can't wait to see. https://t.co/pPYu8nRsxI
