Those with slightly sicker music tastes will be pleased to hear Fantomas - the band headed by musical maverick and former Faith No More singer Mike Patton - have joined the bill for the Big Day Out.
They lead the list of bands in the third and final announcement which also includes locals Weta, Clap Clap Riot, Autozamm, The Tutts, An Emerald City, Bionic Pixie, Quay Street Social Club, Kolab, World War Four, Just One Fix, Honey Claws, Antiform, State Of Mind, and the Mots.
Fantomas, who last played in New Zealand at the Powerstation in 2001, also features Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo and Melvins guitarist Buzz Osbourne.
Meanwhile, Nine Inch Nails were last here for the 2000 Big Day Out and on February 17 the band led by Trent Reznor return for a show at Vector Arena.
Following the release of sprawling 1999 album The Fragile, Reznor went through a stagnant period, brought on mostly by addiction problems, but in 2005 he emerged with a clean bill of health and the album, With Teeth. Since then he's released a further three albums, including this year's excellent double instrumental album Ghosts I-IV and the more conventional The Slip. Tickets go on sale December 10 at Ticketmaster.
The live show is a two-hour onslaught of Nine Inch Nails songs, taking in the band's classic 1989 debut, Pretty Hate Machine, right through to now.

And for bluegrass and folk fans, check out Old Crow Medicine Show playing at the Kings Arms on March 4 and the San Francisco Bath House in Wellington March 5. Since the five-piece met in New York in 1998, they are now Nashville-based and have gone from travelling buskers to supporting the likes of Dolly Parton and Merle Haggard.
