KEY POINTS:
Camilla Shadbolt caused a mob scene when she arrived at Sydney airport.
You probably wouldn't know her name, but you're sure to recognise her face - Shadbolt is the spitting image of Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice.
The 26-year-old impersonator has spent about $155,000 to look like Posh - on haircuts and wigs, tanning treatments, acrylic nails and clothing.
But she has made a good living out of it for the past nine years.
"People used to say that I resembled her because of my nose and stuff like that," Shadbolt said. "And I thought, I can actually make a living out of this."
It didn't hurt that Shadbolt's boyfriend at the time, Andy Harmer, looked remarkably like David Beckham.
Before long the look-alike pair were in high demand.
While Shadbolt and Harmer are no longer dating, they still work together sometimes, and recently starred in The Beckhams Go to Hollywood, in which they pretended to be the real couple moving to Los Angeles.
Shadbolt is in Sydney to promote a new celebrity news website, The Fix. Her stay has been timed to coincide with the visit of soccer star David Beckham.
She said she hoped their paths crossed, but admitted she would be a bit starstruck if she met the man she pretends to be married to.
Shadbolt said the real Victoria Beckham turned out to be lovely when she met her during the filming of an advert in the UK this year.
"I was worried because I thought she might come over and not be too impressed," she said.
"She was a really lovely lady. She made me feel really at ease and she really went out of her way to talk to me.
"She knew a lot about me and she knew I used to date a Beckham look-alike so she had obviously done her homework."
Shadbolt drew stares and double-takes at Sydney's trendy Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf and Oxford St shopping strip, with people running out of shops to give her presents.
She said being a celebrity impersonator was not a bad way to make a living.
"I always used to find look-alikes a bit eerie. I thought it was quite weird. Why would somebody want to look like someone else?" she said. "But it's loads of fun and you can make a good living out of it."
However, she appreciates the fact that she can go back to her own life at the end of the day.
"It's interesting, it's like a bit of a taster for me to experience the celebrity lifestyle without being a proper celebrity," she said.
"At the end of the day, I can walk away from it and be Camilla again.
"She can never do that, and I don't know if I could handle it full time."
