Movie chiefs have appealed to fans to invest in Pete Doherty's film debut because they're facing a budget shortfall, according to a UK report.
The Babyshambles and Libertines musician stars alongside actress Charlotte Gainsbourg in French production Confession d'un Enfant du Siecle, based on the semi-autobiographical novel by 19th century writer Alfred de Musset.
Director Sylvie Verheyde has heaped praise on Doherty's performance, but a new report in Britain's Guardian suggests the film is facing a cash crisis.
The picture reportedly has a funding gap of US$36,000 (US$46,000) and the film chiefs have issued a plea for investments - and in return, people who pledge money will receive tickets, DVDs and photos.
The news comes just a day after troubled Doherty was warned by a judge in his native Britain that he faces jail after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine.
