The brainchild of Outrageous Fortune writer and Herald columnist James Griffin, Diplomatic Immunity is a politically incorrect comedy about a fallen diplomat, sent to babysit the immoral staff at the embassy of The Most Royal Kingdom of Fe'ausi.
SPP has already been approached by producers from Britain, America and Europe, looking to option the format rights.
A full cast line-up has yet to be announced, but Shortland Street veteran Craig Parker is set to take on the role of the fallen diplomat.
The 13-part series will go into production this month and is set to screen on TV2 later this year.
