He was a last minute ring in following the dramatic sacking of Willy Moon and Natalia Kills on X Factor NZ this year.
But Shelton Woolright tells Anika Moa he'd never even heard of the pair before he was hired. In fact, he'd never seen the show.
Moa, on the other hand, admits she was a regular viewer - and claims she auditioned six times to join the judging panel.
"I would have made a better judge," she declares after staging a mock audition with Woolright.
The I Am Giant drummer also attempts - unsuccessfully - to bum out our host, revealing her past romantic liaisons.
