Rounding out the announcements for next year's Splore festival is the addition of powerful Texan neo-soul diva Erykah Badu.
The singer and and sometime actress, best known for her colourful live shows, her strong cultural and spiritual beliefs, and the controversial video for the track Window Seat, will be heading down to NZ for the three-day festival in February next year, in a continuation of her tour supporting the 2010 album New Amerykah Part Two: Return Of The Ankh.
Returning to the idyllic surrounds of the coastal Tapapakanga regional park from February 17-19, Splore promises to be an explosion of vibrant arts and music, with 40 visual artists contributing works, 13 audio visual artists, 15 international and local performing arts groups from theatre to comedy, circus to cabaret stars, 20 local and international DJs, and a musical line-up already announced that includes legendary UK act Soul II Soul (including original members Jazzie B and Caron Wheeler as well as MC Chickaboo), Warp Records' Africa Hitech, J Star, @Peace, IM ENO, Tiki, Gappy Ranks, Hermitude, The Yoots, The Nudge, Barons of Tang, AHoriBuzz, Lord Echo and His Melodies, Shortee Blitz and Earl Gateshead, Disasteradio, Scratch 22, MayaVanya, Alphabethead, King Kapisi and Jason Eli.
