2:30pm Alec Baldwin wins in the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category for 30 Rock. He thanks Tina Fey in his acceptance speech.
The fabulous Glenn Close wins an award for her role in Damages. She beat off stiff competition from Sally Field and Holly Hunter in the Lead Actress in a Drama Series category.
Sideways star Paul Giamatti wins in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie category. It's yet another prize for John Adams.
2:20pm Top show Mad Men wins in the Writing for a Drama Series category.
2:00pm Veteran actress Sally Field presents the gong for Outstanding Miniseries. Congrats go to...John Adams. Tom Hanks accepts the award and shuffles off the stage.
Best reality competition programme gong goes to...The Amazing Race.
1:54pm Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie. And the Emmy Award goes to...Tom Wilkinson for John Adams.
Outstanding Writing For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Dramatic Special Emmy. And the Emmy Award goes to...to Kirk Ellis for John Adams.
1:50pm Red carpet gossip: A security breach happened at a checkpoint close to the Nokia Theatre at 3:30pm (local time).
Authorities say three people who were planning on attending the ceremony were taken in by cops for questioning. Sources say an aerosol rifle was found in their car. A snitch tells E! News, "A car got past a checkpoint, and it had to be checked by the bomb squad."
1:40pm: Christina Applegate and Christian Slater are up next. They're handing out the gong for Outstanding Made For Television Movie. And the Emmy Award goes to...Recount.

Red carpet gossip: Cynthia Nixon gave an interview to E! on the red carpet and revealed that a sequel to Sex and the City is looking very likely. Sarah Jessica Parker and Michael Partick King are apparently in conversation as we speak.
