Ellie Goulding is hoping she will rekindle her relationship with Dougie Poynter following their recent split.
The Burn singer confirmed that she had parted ways with the McFly bassist after a two-year on-off relationship.
When asked if they could work it out, she tells Britain's Heat magazine, "Maybe. I hope so. We have something I know is special and I think other people see it - my friends see it, my family see it. My nana was, like, really sad.
"But I think some things are just kind of unfinished, an unfinished story. I hope so - he's a real gem and he's doing so well and he's keeping busy, as am I. I hope so, he's a great guy."
The British pop star is planning to follow in the footsteps of her pal Ed Sheeran and take a break from the spotlight when her current tour ends in October. She will continue writing songs and she is not sure if she will open up about their split in her music.
