KEY POINTS:
Film star Eddie Murphy and his partner Tracey Edmonds will remarry in the United States after revelations their recent wedding in French Polynesia was probably invalid.
People magazine has quoted representatives of the couple who said Murphy and Edmonds will tie the knot again - this time in America. "As is typical when couples get married in foreign countries, a legal ceremony will take place when they return to the US," the magazine reported.
Recent reports quoted French Polynesian lawyer Malgras Benoit, who said Murphy and his 40-year-old fiancee Edmonds were ineligible to be married locally because they had not lived in the region long enough. Under French law, people wishing to marry must reside near where the ceremony is to take place for at least 30 days before they can legally tie the knot.
