British pop-rocker Ed Sheeran is set to make a guest appearance on Shortland Street.
After his iHeartRadio concert at the Aotea Centre last night, he's out on the promo trail this morning but this afternoon he will be heading to the set of our beloved local soap at South Pacific Pictures studios.
Apparently Sheeran, who contributed a song called I See Fire to The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug soundtrack, saw a bit of the show last time he was in New Zealand and was quick to say yes to the opportunity to introduce his talents to a primetime audience.
Not much has been revealed about his storyline, but he will be co-starring alongside 16-year-old Shortland Street actor KJ Apa, who plays Kane. The pair will perform a song written especially for the story by the show's composer Graham Bollard.
Sheeran's episode will screen on Monday, June 23, to coincide with the New Zealand release of his next full-length album, X, on June 20.
