E3: These are the games we want to play right now

Some of the best and weirdest games from E3 include: Death Stranding, We Happy Few and Detroit: Become Human.

After some amazing video game announcements at this year's E3, Rachel Bache and Chris Schulz share the best, weirdest, grossest games they can't wait to get their hands on.

We Happy Few

Rachel Bache: We Happy Few turns dark and twists faster than you can say "did you forget to take your Joy?". The new 60s set video game from Compulsion Games takes place in a bizarre world where people are forced to take happy 'joy' pills and going off them could land you in a whole heap of trouble. The feel of the game is BioShock meets A Clockwork Orange, with characters painting their faces white like clowns. The most disturbing part in the trailer is when the playable character smashes a "piñata" which turns out to be a rat. Gross. But the creepiness is incredibly intriguing and it'll likely be great fun to see where this Xbox One game leads.

Death Stranding

Chris Schulz: Now this is how you make a comeback. Hideo Kojima took to the stage during Playstation's presser, smiled, then declared, "I'm back," before playing one of the most batshit insane trailers gaming has ever seen. Norman Reedus is naked. He's lying on a beach, crying, and cradling a fetus. There are dead fish, and whales. WTF? What even is this game. I have no idea, and I'm not sure Kojima does either. But I can't wait to find out.

Detroit: Become Human

Rachel Bache: I was already really excited for Detroit: Become Human after the first trailer was released by PlayStation in October last year. Now after getting more of a taste of what the game could be like at E3, I absolutely can't wait for its release. Quantic Dream's neo-noir thriller follows a handful of playable androids and the unravelling tensions between them and "real humans". The new trailer shows scenes and gameplay - players will be able to collect information and work out the probabilities for the best out comes in a choose-your-own-adventure-styled game. Do you take the gun or put it down? Do you lie or tell the truth? Each decision will affect how the rest of the game plays out and which characters will live or die, in a similar style to last year's insanely good Until Dawn and indie game Life is Strange. "It's up to you how the story ends".

Dishonored 2

Chris Schulz: This had barely registered on my radar before Bethesda's presentation. A sequel to a 2012 game that I liked but didn't love, Dishonored 2 looks the business. Stealth assassin ninjas? Check. Steampunk bots? Check. A time travel device strapped to your wrist? Check. And supernatural smoke powers? Check! Add in some pretty extreme violence - those knives seem to go right through faces - and this just became my next favourite game.

Resident Evil 7

Rachel Bache: Resident Evil 7 appears to be bone-chilling horror game to add to the must-play list. The main appeal of this game in the long-running franchise is that is made completely with VR in mind. Instead of watching a character on the screen, you become the character fumbling around a dark spooky house, not knowing what's around the corner. The game is sure to offer up more than a few thrilling jump-scares and will hopefully have VR players screaming their heads off. I can't wait to uncover the mystery behind this house of nightmares ... Now I just have to pluck up the courage to play it.
