The console wars are heating up again.
Sony Computer Entertainment fired the first shot of 2013 in February when it unveiled the PlayStation 4 and captured the public's attention - despite the lack of a console to look at. Their rivals at Microsoft returned fire last month with the announcement of the Xbox One.
Both consoles will retail at fairly reasonable prices for next-generation technology, but the PS4 ($649) might be more attractive to players who cherish the freedom to sell, lend, or trade their game discs - options which will be severely restricted on the Xbox One. ($749.)
Released late last year, Nintendo's Wii U failed to gain a foothold amongst gamers and the company reduced its E3 footprint this year, choosing not to hold a pre-show press conference.
