Dwayne Johnson stands by 'candy ass' comments about Fast 8 co-stars

Dwayne Johnson has stood by his controversial remarks slamming his 'chicken s**t' Fast 8 co-stars.

He is fast becoming one of the biggest stars in the world, and that means Dwayne Johnson can get away with saying whatever he wants.

Earlier this year, Johnson, better known by his wrestling name "The Rock", created an online frenzy with an Instagram post where he called out his Fast 8 co-stars as "candy asses".

Three months on and - despite stirring up controversy - Johnson stands by what he said.

"I was very clear with what I said. I've been in the game a long time," he said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

"Would Universal [Pictures] have preferred that didn't happen? Sure, we talked about it. The irony is after that and as they do their tracking and all their analysis, the interest shot through the roof to a whole other level."

In the infamous Instagram post, Johnson praised his female co-stars but threw shade at his male stars, saying that some didn't conduct themselves as "true professionals" and were too "chicken s**t" to change it.

"When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I'm not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling - you're right", the actor wrote.

The post sparked rumours of a feud with Vin Diesel, and TMZ reported that his comments had caused tension and distress on the set.

In the interview, Johnson also says he won't switch career paths and start doing serious dramas any time soon, saying he is in the business to "serve the audience".

Johnson's latest comments come a week after he claimed the title of People's Sexist Man Alive for 2017.

Fast 8 is set for release April 13 2017. Johnson will next be seen in Moana, out on December 26.
