Mel Gibson is on the warpath (surprise surprise) as a cop avenging his slain daughter in this loose remake of the 1985 BBC miniseries about nuclear skulduggery and political coverups.
Sure, it suffers in comparison to the superlative original, but for viewers new to the tale it is an efficient rendition rich in paranoia and its fair share of brutal (but honest) violence.
