Whatever your thoughts on Battleship, one thing is for certain: We won't be getting a sequel.
That's because Battleship - yep, it's based on the board game - flopped at the box office, struggled to win back its $200 million budget and failed to win over reviewers, with just a 34 per cent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
That's not to say there isn't anything to love about Peter Berg's film: For those looking for spaceship porn, creepy aliens and epic battles, it's got plenty of those; there's plenty of star power with Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard on board; and Battleship does seem to have its tongue quietly lodged in its cheek.
But it's let down by some terrible dialogue (much of it coming from Rihanna's Gunner's Mate), a simplistic and predictable storyline, Transformers-style special effects and a ridiculous ending that will have you chortling at the screen.
It's one for a rainy Sunday afternoon - if you've exhausted all other entertainment possibilities.
