Few people imagined a movie version of 21 Jump Street would look like this.
The cult 80s TV drama show, which made a household name out of Johnny Depp, has been turned into a comedy film, starring foul-mouthed brat Jonah Hill and current Magic Mike star Channing Tatum.
It sounds implausible but the pair - budding cops sent back to school undercover in a bid to bust a drug ring - conjure up plenty of laughs with their off-kilter wisecracks, dodgy police skills and flashbacks to their school days, complete with bad hair.
They throw in some early tongue-in-cheek jibes at themselves, a fired-up Ice Cube as their boss and a hilarious cameo by Depp himself and there's enough here to suggest comedy remakes of serious TV shows could become a genre all in itself.
Anyone up for Adam Sandler's version of Party of Five?
