Masterchef returns with a bubbling broth of tears, rants and smashing pots this week.
One early indication is that the new-season contestants have learned from previous shows - about seasoning, at least.
Said judge Simon Gault: "We had a lot of outstanding dishes [at the auditions] ... we rarely said to anyone, 'season your food', whereas you heard me say that a lot last year."
MasterChef returns to TVOne at 7.30pm on Tuesday. In the first episode, the winners of regional auditions gather in Auckland under the watchful eyes of judges Gault, Josh Emett and Ray McVinnie.
A TVNZ spokeswoman said the pressure would take its toll for some, with disastrous consequences. Others would see overconfidence lead to their downfall.
