Country music star Dolly Parton is taking her life story to the stage in a new Broadway musical.
The singer previously worked on the score for the stage adaptation of her 1980 film 9 to 5, and the show, titled 9 to 5: The Musical, opened in Los Angeles before transferring to New York in 2009.
However, it struggled to win over audiences and closed after just 17 weeks of performances.
But the Broadway failure has not put Parton off the idea of working on a big stage production and she is hoping to find a small role for herself in her upcoming project.
"I'm writing my life story as a musical for Broadway. I probably won't be in it but I'll find a way to introduce it somehow, maybe the older me," she told WENN.
