British dance DJ Grooverider, who is charged with drug possession in Dubai, told a court he had forgotten that a small amount of marijuana was in his pocket, the local press reported.
The DJ, whose real name is Raymond Bingham, was detained at Dubai airport in November as he arrived to perform a gig in the emirate, known as one of the Middle East's party capitals.
The 40-year-old DJ could face a minimum of four years in jail if convicted.
The marijuana was found in a plastic bag inside the pocket of a pair of jeans. The case was adjourned until next month when the defence argument will be heard.
