Disney says no to Star Wars Princess Leia 'slave' dolls

Disney have put a stop to making a piece of Star Wars memorabilia which depicts Princess Leia as a slave.

The company will reportedly cease to make Princess Leia toys which come wearing the scant outfit.

Leia appeared clad in a skimpy metal bikini on Return of the Jedi. The image has since become iconic and appears in wax at Madame Tussauds' in London.

This just one week after former Leia actress Carrie Fisher advised Daisy Ridley, who will play the lead role of Rey in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens: "don't be a slave like I was".

According to a Facebook post by Marvel artist J. Scott Campbell he, "can't even draw Leia in a sexy pose at Marvel, let alone in that outfit."

He added the major company, which owns both Marvel and LucasFilm, is thinking of removing slave Leia from its popular line of merchandise.

"Disney is already well on its way to wiping out the 'slave' outfit from any future products period," Campbell said.

"You will NOT see [any] future merchandising featuring the slave outfit ever again."

He also added that a 3D slave Leia statue was "killed" at a major manufacturer because there will no longer be any products made of that image.
