On Tuesday night, Jimmy Kimmel denied involvement with the clip, which fans assumed was one of his hoaxes.
"When I woke up this morning, I was being blamed for it," the 47-year-old funnyman told his studio audience.
"You play 50 pranks and all of a sudden people don't trust you anymore."
The Daytime Emmy winner was famously behind the Worst Twerk Fail Ever hoax, which went viral in 2013.
It's unclear why Quaid took part in the Funny or Die video, but his next project will be online.
On Tuesday morning, the Movie 43 actor promoted his role as real estate shark Samuel Brukner in the Crackle webseries The Art Of More.
According to Deadline, the 10-episode hour-long drama centers on the cut-throat world of premium auction houses.
Dennis will begin filming The Art of More with Kate Bosworth during the first week of May in Montreal.
The father-of-three was essentially parodying other celebrities who have suffered leaked on-set tantrums - Lindsay Lohan, Christian Bale, and director David O. Russell.
