"They are still desperately in love and could be on for a reconciliation. The divorce isn't being processed right now," a 'source' told the tabloid.
Moore announced plans to divorce the Two and a Half Men star last year, after months of dodging fevered separation and affair rumours.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton," Moore said in a statement at the time.
"As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation."
According to the newspaper, Kutcher also made an emotional speech (with deep undertones, natch), and teared up when he said: "I've made all these horrendous mistakes in the last year."
Kutcher reportedly arrived at the Beverly Hills Hotel two hours before his ex.
"Ashton's voice started to break as he spoke. He just fell into tears. He sat down to a round of applause while Demi just looked frozen," imparted a snitch.
"Ashton was there quietly socialising and Demi showed up a couple of hours later looking amazing.
"She went over to wish Yehuda a happy birthday and Ashton was right by him. Yehuda left them to talk. They started to chat and were extremely affectionate. She was staring at him like a love-sick puppy."
The source added: "They both sat at the front with a mutual friend between them. Demi got up to speak and spoke about family not necessarily being your blood but being people who love you.
"Then Ashton got up and he spoke about how amazing Yehuda was.
"He said that if Yehuda is your friend, he'll love you unconditionally, no matter what mistakes you've made, before making the emotional admission that he had made mistakes. It was obvious he was referring to the break-up."
Obviously.
But wait, there's more...
According to RadarOnline, this wasn't their only recent meeting.
The pair has met "at least twice" this month to confab over their future, according to the scandal sheet.
"They have met up to discuss where to go next.
"Whether it be to divorce, or if there is a journey to travel together ... they both feel it's important to have spiritual guidance to accomplish it," says a source.
"I know they met up with Rabbi around the time of the Gemini New Moon last Monday, it signifies a time of new beginnings, especially when it comes to communication, so they met again before the party, at least once, maybe twice."
The source adds: "The idea was to discuss, where do they go from here.
"They're by no means getting back together but equally no decision has been made to end things for good so everything is to play at this stage."
Meanwhile Moore, who has yet to file for divorce, appears to be in a forgiving mood on Twitter.
Last week, Moore "favourited" a tweet by singer Wiz Khalifa which read: "We all make mistakes. Don't let that be the reason you give up on somebody."
She did the same with another tweet from a quotation service: "Sometimes you have to love people from a distance and give them a space and time to get their minds right".
Is it really all over Rover? Or are the Kutchers ripe for a happy ending?
I wouldn't put my cash on it.
Moore, who recently changed her Twitter handle from @MrsKutcher to @JustDemi, has since taken aim at reports she's close to reconciling with her ex.
"You have to laugh at the media's need to twist and take tweets out of context so they can create fictitious stories to sell to the public!" she tweeted today.
Adding: "Nice bit of wisdom passed on to me, 'the faster you find what's funny about something, the better it is!'"
