KEY POINTS:
The Datsuns return to New Zealand for a gig at the Kings Arms in March with their hootin' and howlin' rock'n'roll mates The Bellrays and The Dirtbombs in tow.
Since the release of The Datsuns' third album, Smoke & Mirrors, they've been hooning round the European tour circuit and now they're bringing it on home.
And The Bellrays, the LA band fronted by rock'n'roll soul diva Lisa Kekaula, also have a new album coming out soon called Hard, Sweet and Sexy.
Elsewhere, in April punk rock pioneer turned TV talk show star Henry Rollins also returns to do a spoken word show at the Bruce Mason Centre on the 30th. The former frontman for Black Flag and Rollins Band also speaks at the Paramount Theatre in Wellington the night before.
So leave that low self-opinion at home and get along to see the king of ranting and raving.
Also in April The Mountain Goats, made up of lo-fi folk singer/songwriter John Darnielle and bass player Peter Hughes, return to New Zealand on a tour celebrating the release of new album Heretic Pride. The Mountain Goats play Auckland's Kings Arms on April 19 and the San Francisco Bath House in Wellington on April 20.
Meanwhile, former skateboarder turned singer/songwriter Matt Costa has added a show at the Kings Arms on March 19 while he is here supporting Jack Johnson.
Lastly, the final acts for the Bluesfest in Whitianga on March 22 have been announced, with veteran reggae act Herbs doing an acoustic set, bluesman Paul Ubana Jones, Wellington jazz act Twinset, and local blues bands Kokomo and the Darcy Perry Band.
