Dannii Minogue has revealed that before falling pregnant she feared she might be getting too old to have a baby.
The 38-year-old Australian star has spoken of her joy following last week's announcement that she is expecting her first child in July with boyfriend Kris Smith.
"A while ago I went to my doctor for a check-up and he told me I'd got to the stage in my life where I'd have to make decisions about having children," Minogue told the Daily Mirror.
"I remember thinking, 'Oh God. I'm now that person who is getting too old to have kids.'
"I told him it wasn't an issue for me because I didn't have a man, there was no one on the horizon, and there probably never would be."
A short time later, Minogue met English former rugby league player Smith while on holiday in Ibiza.
The pair flew into London from Australia on Monday and could continue to split their time between their native countries.
"My life has been turned upside down, inside out ... I just feel like the sun is shining every day," Minogue said.
"I found 'the one' and I am exploding with happiness. Kris is so completely broody. I'm totally in a panic about everything - babies, living together and working miles apart. It all seems so complicated.
"But, hey, it's wonderful to have problems caused by being completely in love."
