KEY POINTS:
I was always one of those painful little kids who asked questions incessantly constantly annoying my poor mother. Nothing's changed. I've still got questions, lots of questions. It's just that I'm curious about a lot of things. Note to legal dept: the following are just my curious posturings...
1. Who really believes TVNZ CEO Rick Ellis didn't know anything about Veitch-gate before last Monday? I mean, really?
2. And if he didn't know anything (as he insists), what does that say about his four executives (head of television Jeff Latch, head of news and current affairs Anthony Flannery, head of corporate affairs Peter Parussini and a senior company lawyer) who now admit they did know and didn't tell him?
3. Whose head will roll at TVNZ? C'mon it's an election year, Helen isn't happy with the abysmal way TVNZ have handled Veitch-gate, she's low in the polls, someone has to go... surely?
4. How much of a payout will Veitchy's lawyers get for him if he loses his job at TVNZ? Should that be 'if', or 'when'?
5. Is it true TV3 reporter Kate Lynch once went to ball with Tony Veitch? And if true, how did she feel reporting about her former one-off dance partner?
6. How accurate are the rumours Veitchy was in secret negotiations with RadioWorks' The Rock radio station about moving over from RadioSport before the scandal broke?
7. Is it true Lisa Owen could afford to be so bolshy with her bosses Anthony Flannery and Rick Ellis in her news report (denouncing Flannery for failing to answer her questions, describing Ellis' statement as "bland" and joining her newsroom colleagues in serving TVNZ with an Official Information Act request asking for details of TVNZ's involvement in Veitch-gate) because she's a member of the union and can't be fired?
8. Should Lisa Owen be given a whopping promotion for showing guts to ask the real questions at a time her bosses at TVNZ were staying mum about the incident? Lisa Owen for PM?
9. Who guessed Mike Hosking would be so much better than Mark Sainsbury on Close Up? And when is he coming back to telly full-time?
10. Why can't any of the male fill-ins for Paul Henry on Breakfast cut the mustard and fill in for longer than a week? Doesn't Henry occasionally do Breakfast and Close Up, and This is Your Life all at the same time? Is the man a workaholic?
