At 18 he married childhood sweetheart Rachel Miner, but they divorced four years later. Culkin also became embroiled in a bitter court battle with his parents over the handling of his Home Alone fortune.
In 2004 he was arrested for drug possession, and in 2008 his sister, Dakota, was killed in a car accident.
He returned to acting as an adult, but never achieved the same success.
