Oscar-winning actor Kevin Costner has settled a 2005 lawsuit he brought against a production company for breaking a film contract, legal sources said.
Costner, 53, who won Oscars for best film and best director for his 1990 movie Dances with Wolves said he had agreed with Ascendant Pictures in 2004 to play the lead role in a film, Taming Ben Taylor. According to his suit, the company withdrew from the contract in 2005, costing Costner some US$8 million in lost earnings.
The actor's lawyer William Bossen confirmed that a settlement had been reached. The details of the settlement were not released.
