I have never been a big fan of comedians who resort to crude, shock humour, riddled with curse words that would make a sailor proud. So it was refreshing to get along to Wash Your Mouth Out, at Vault at the Q Theatre, in Auckland.
Comedians Dave Nicholls, Laura Daniel and Tim Muller banded together for the evening, giving the crowd roughly 20 minutes of laughs each.
Poking fun at our country's leader John Key and his latest hair-pulling scandal, Muller broke into some hilarious musical comedy and quirky dry humour gave the crowd a few giggles.
Nicholls was full of energy and drawing from his time as a police officer and a nurse, delved into the type of 'work stories' that were actually funny. Daniel rounded out the set with her vivacious attitude, proving that gender in no way inhibits the ability to crack out a great line.
This show is definitely safe to bring your mum along to - and there are moments where she would be sure to have a chuckle. Although some of the punch lines were hit and miss, the comedians kept their whits about them - taking a dig at everything from online dating to root canals.
