The NZ Comedy Festival is set to unleash itself upon the funnybones of Auckland and Wellington from April 29. TimeOut has rounded up a dozen or so local and international stars of this year's fest to discuss their approach to funny.

Name of show (and how long did it take you to think it up?): LA-Z-MEN. It took us three beers.
Conceptual description of show in 10 words or less: Two men talking while sitting in La-Z-Boy recliner rockers.
Are props required?
If so, what's the most important one? Just the chairs. They are the stars. They could probably do the show without us. And Paul, he's sort of a prop. Though he's built like a lock.
Can we bring our mum? Yes. Mums know all about La-Z-Men. She'll explain the bits you don't get.
If you do have another telly/radio/whatever gig, what can you do in your live show that you can't there? Get a word in. 7 Days is like dinner in a big family. If you're not fast you die.
How many Auckland Comedy Festival appearances is this for you? All of them, I think, in some capacity -19?
What have you learned from your past appearances? I have learned that I'm not capable of sustaining an hour of comedy on my own. Sorry if you were one of the people I learned that from.
In a year like 2011, what is there to laugh about?: Sharks and God.
Who's your favourite live comedian of all time and why? Paul Ego. Because he's not getting paid for our show and he's only finding that out if he's reading this.
