The NZ Comedy Festival is set to unleash itself upon the funnybones of Auckland and Wellington from April 29. TimeOut has rounded up a dozen or so local and international stars of this year's fest to discuss their approach to funny.

Name of festival show (and how long did it take you to think it up?) Things I Hate. Took me about two minutes to think up.
Conceptual description of festival show in 10 words or less? I hate many things. I shall talk about them.
Are props required? If so, what's the most important one? There's a bit of multimedia stuff in it. I've also got a keyboard.
Can we bring our mum? Sure!
If you do have another telly/radio gig, what can you do in your live show that you can't there? If I stuff up a line I can always re-do it. That wouldn't work in a live show. Although I might try it this year.
How many festival appearances is this for you? This is my eighth.
What have you learned from your past festival appearances? It's pointless stressing out beforehand.
In a year like 2011, what is there to laugh about? I go through my jokes from 2006 and re-word them for 2011 and hope people don't realise.
Who's your favourite live comedian of all time? Flight of the Conchords.
Complete this sentence: "Please come to my show because ..." I've been telling people I don't like that it's sold out.
