Coffey crowned Dancing with the Stars king

Breakfast presenter Tamati Coffey won the final of Dancing with the Stars last night in the closest public vote the competition has seen.

Coffey beat Olympic windsurfing gold medallist Barbara Kendall, receiving 38 for the waltz, 40 in the paso doble and 35 in the freestyle.

Judges said his paso doble routine, set to James Horner's Mask of Zorro, was flawless. Judge Craig Revel Horwood: "I absolutely hated it and I can tell you why ... I could not find a single thing wrong with it."

Coffey said he was "over the moon" to make it to the final with partner Samantha Hitchcock.

Kendall and partner Jonny Williams scored 38 for their rumba, 39 for their quickstep, and 40 for their freestyle.

After Kendall's final routine, a freestyle to Queen's Don't Stop Me Now, judge Brendan Cole said she and her partner executed "the most incredible lifts this competition has ever seen".

Coffey's prizemoney goes to his designated charity, Rainbow Youth.
