KEY POINTS:
Call us stupid but we just had to fork out US$93 - that's about $130 New Zealand - for eight beers. Welcome to Palm Springs ladies and gentlemen. I'm here for the Coachella Music Festival and it's shaping up to be a weekend of rock'n'roll and - expensive - beer.
It's pretty quiet round town considering the three day festival kicks off tomorrow and includes headliners like Rage Against the Machine and Crowded House (both of which have reformed and this will be their first gig), Bjork, the Chili Peppers (who better be better than they were in NZ), and Kings Of Leon.
Apart from the occasional black limo there's very little signs of rock star life either. Maybe they're all choppering in?
Today I'll see the Arctic Monkeys, the Jesus and Mary Chain (who have also reformed), and Peeping Tom, the latest project by former Faith No More frontman Mike Patton, who's a bit of a musical hero of mine. Peeping Tom play in Auckland in June so I'll let you know what we can expect.
It's hot out there - in the high 30s - so it's gonna be a sweaty one.
