Cliff Curtis is already a winner ahead of this evening's Rialto Channel New Zealand Film Awards.
The Asia Pacific Screen Awards named him best actor at a ceremony in Brisbane last night for his performance in The Dark Horse.
He took the award ahead of veteran Australian actor David Gulpilil who won the prize for best actor at Cannes earlier this year for his role in Charlie's Country.
Gulpilil was given a special mention award in consolation.
The annual awards recognises excellence and cultural diversity in film across 70 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
