Cliff Curtis could probably have a wedding anywhere in the world. Instead, he's come home and is expected to have brought a bit of Hollywood with him.
Curtis, who has worked with some of Hollywood's biggest stars, will marry his partner today at his family marae at Rotoiti, near Rotorua.
Marquees and tents are expected to be in place this morning at Tapuaekura a Hatupatu (Rakeiao) Marae for the guests.
Curtis has appeared in Hollywood films such as Collateral Damage with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Training Day with Denzel Washington, Die Hard 4.0 with Bruce Willis, Fracture with Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling and Three Kings starring George Clooney.
He has also starred in Kiwi films Once Were Warriors and Whale Rider.
In an email to the Rotorua Daily Post, Curtis declined to comment about his wedding, saying he wanted privacy and did not want to attract a lot of attention.
Curtis was born in Rotorua in 1968 and attended Western Heights High School.
Curtis's uncle, Te Arawa Lakes Trust chairman Toby Curtis, said a powhiri would be held to welcome the wedding guests but Mr Curtis was unsure whether any of the bride's traditional ceremonies would also be included in the wedding.
He believed Curtis wanted a home wedding away from Hollywood and was pleased his family would be able to share it with him.
"I think it's important to everyone."
Toby Curtis said there could be up to 200 guests, mainly family members. He had met the bride only a couple of times but said her family would be there from Asia.
Mr Curtis was unsure which Hollywood stars, if any, would be arriving.
A 22-seater private jet owned by an American aircraft leasing company is at Rotorua Airport. It was not clear who was using the aircraft.
