A bodyguard allegedly working for R&B singer Chris Brown has been arrested for illegal gun possession outside a Hollywood club on Sunday night.
Clay Lewis claims he was on duty as he waited in his parked car outside Penthouse, where the Loyal hitmaker was partying, and he agreed to let police officers search his car after they spotted drug paraphernalia in the front seat.
The officers reportedly found a loaded Glock in the boot of the car and took Lewis into custody, after discovering he didn't have the required concealed weapons permit for the state of California.
He was released hours later after posting US$35,000 (NZ$52834) bail, according to TMZ.com.
The news of Lewis' arrest emerges months after another of Brown's security guards received a suspended 90-day jail term for his involvement in a fight outside a Washington, DC hotel in 2013.
