, assuring fans that he's "not a monster".

In a grainy online video posted on YouTube, the R&B singer accused of beating pop princess Rihanna in February, breaks his three-month silence and insists he's not the bad guy he's portrayed to be.

"I just wanna say 'what's up?' because I ain't (sic) been out there in a minute," Brown says in a short clip reportedly shot at NBA star

"But the new album is gonna be coming soon," he says. "We working on it right now. It's called

Graffiti

. It's got everything on it, so y'all be ready for that. I'm about to drop a single this summer for y'all. We ain't going nowhere."

Brown, who is fighting to clear his name after pleading not guilty to charges of felony assault and making criminal threats in relation to the alleged assault, adds, "Everybody that's haters, they just been haters. All my real fans, I love you.

Adds Bow Wow, who pops his head into view and flashes a peace sign: "Believe that!"

The

singer also took a swipe at celebrity news bloggers and shot down claims that

Jay-Z

- Rihanna's mentor - gave him a black eye.

"

All the blog sites are liars. You guys lie. No black eye,

" he says wagging his finger disapprovingly. Pffft. Don't you wag that thing at us, Mister Man, we're not the ones in the brown stuff (punn intended) with the law.

Brown, 20, is due back in a Los Angeles courtroom on Thursday (Friday NZT) following last month's hearing when his lawyer,

Mark Geragos

, attempted to have the case dismissed.

Geragos filed motions asking for internal police records on the

leaked photo

of Rihanna's battered face, and to determine if there was any police misconduct in the investigation.

If convicted, Brown could be facing a five-year prison sentence.

The YouTube broadcast is Brown's first public outporing since that

fateful night in February

. A week following the alleged attack on Rihanna, Brown issued a statement saying "words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired".

No comment as yet from Rihanna's camp.
