KEY POINTS:

UPDATED: Rumours surrounding Chris Brown's alleged attack on singing sensation Rihanna continue to spread on the internet. But three days on from the shocking 'attack' revelations, we're still no closer to uncovering what exactly happened on that fateful night in Los Angeles.

What we know so far:

* Chris Brown was allegedly involved in an altercation with an as yet unidentified woman on Sunday near Hancock Park in Los Angeles. Police say an unidentified witness dialled 911 and claimed she'd heard a woman screaming in a car.

According to a police statement, Brown and the alleged victim were in a vehicle around 12.30am on Sunday, when, according to reports, they became involved in an argument.

After stopping his car, Brown and the woman got out and the argument continued.

* The victim reportedly received visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker

* Chris Brown has been charged on suspicion of making criminal threats. No further charges have been made to date, although Los Angeles police sources say that could change, pending further investigations.

* Brown has been released on US$50,000 bail and will appear in court on March 5.

LATEST UPDATES:

09:00AM - Thursday 12
Several news reports now claim that the alleged confrontation between Chris Brown and Rihanna started after he received a text message from a woman while he was driving with the singer.

TMZ claims that a law enforcement source tells them Brown received a text message from the unnamed woman who "wrote about hooking up with Brown later".

"He got a booty call. He got a text. Rihanna saw it and she got upset. They started to argue. She got out of the car. He wanted her to get back in, so he grabbed her," the snitch said. "She pulled away. That's when she's told people he hit her," a source tells nydailynews.com

                                        *******************************

02:55PM A source 'close' to the investigation tells E! that Rihanna has alleged to police that Brown choked her while threatening to kill her, and that she subsequently lost consciousness.

Remember that none of these reports or allegations have been confirmed. There's still no word from either Rihanna or Brown's publicist, and the investigation is ongoing.

02:45PM Fresh news reports/speculation reveal new details regarding the alleged altercation between Brown and Rihanna.

Gossip blog Bossip.com suggests that the alleged argument between the singers erupted after Brown received a phone call from a young lady who was believed to be "after him".

"Rihanna got a glimpse of the phone, saw the name and number and immediately recognised who it was. She went ballistic and began to "beat the sh**" out of Chris (while driving).

"She was so uncontrollable, that Chris began to fight back in self defense, which ensued the fight," reports Bossip.

12:25PM Chris Brown's stepfather has dropped a major bombshell. He's spoken out about Sunday's alleged assault, and says he's "not surprised" to hear about it, and says the singer must "take responsibility" for the incident.

When asked by Access Hollywood about the events, and whether he believes Brown attacked Rihanna, he says: "I wouldn't be surprised."

"[Chris] has to take responsibility for his own actions," he added.

The backlash against Brown continues. A radio station in the US, WAKS FM 96.5, has declared it has removed all music by Brown from their on-air playlist until further notice.

11:50AM A district attorney's spokeswoman says Los Angeles police have presented a case regarding Chris Brown, but county prosecutors have asked for further investigation.

Nydailynews.com reports that Rihanna is believed to be co-operating with the police.

New details have emerged about the alleged incident between Brown and Rihanna. A snitch tells people.com that "Chris knocked her around," adding, "Black eye, blood, bruises. She had to be treated by a doctor."

The website also claims a police source tells them the singer suffered "a swollen split lip and two red and purple contusions on either side of her forehead."

Rapper T.I. has also spoken out about Brown, and says the R&B star is "cool". In a recent TV interview, T.I. said "Yeah, I spoke to him today," adding, "He cool, you know. I guess he a little concerned about the situation, but he's still the same Chris."

No more milk

Chris Brown's association with the highly-publicised "Got Milk" advertisements in the US has come to an abrupt end.

A statement on behalf of the Milk Mustache campaign makers says ads featuring the 19-year-old singer will end this week.

"The Milk Mustache campaign is taking the allegations against Chris Brown very seriously," a company rep tells Us Weekly.

"We are very proud and protective of the image of the Milk Mustache campaign and the responsible message it sends to teens. Mr. Brown's ad was launched last fall and is scheduled to end this week."

11:30AM:
Rihanna's grandmother, Clara Brathwaite, says the singer is "fine and doing well". She tells Barbados' Daily Nation newspaper: "I don't want people to worry. Rihanna is fine and she is doing well." She also denied earlier reports that the singer suffered a broken nose.

Kanye West says he is devestated over the Chris Brown and Rihanna incident. West spoke to Ryan Seacrest yesterday on his KIIS FM radio show, and shared his thoughts on the alleged assault on his friend Rihanna.

"I don't want to speak too much on it, but I was completely devastated by the concept of what I heard.

"[Rihanna] has the potential to be, you know, the greatest artist of all time and, in that sense, I feel like [she is] my baby sis," added West. "I would do any and everything to help her in any situation."

He went on to call the situation "so devastating."

"I feel like, just as a person, I don't care how famous she is or even if she just worked at McDonald's, that should never happen. It should never come to that, to that place."

Meanwhile, Rihanna has postponed a scheduled performance in Malaysia.
