KEY POINTS:
Cheese makers Kapiti have unveiled an art collection by five New Zealand artists inspired by the brand's boutique products.
The artists commissioned to produce artwork inspired by a different Kapiti cheese are Dick Frizzell, Jenny Dolezel, John Reynolds, Robert McLeod and Philip Trustrum.
Painter and print maker Jenny Dolezel's lithograph titled "Good Life" is a response to the Mt Hector goat's milk cheese she was issued with.
Each of the five cheeses is named after a different regional landmark.
Ms Dolezel said she was inspired by the anticipation of consuming the cheese and wanted to capture a "sense of excitement and a joy for life" in the piece.
Gina Klarwill, senior brand manager, specialty cheeses said "Kapiti recognises that premium cheese is an art in itself and this is absolutely reflected in the Kapiti Collection."
The Kapiti art collection will be exhibited in selected domestic and international Air New Zealand Koru lounges, at the MUKA Gallery in Ponsonby Rd and at Air New Zealand Fashion Week's opening show from the designer Hailwood.
