Chance the Rapper secretly made a movie while no one was looking

Chance the Rapper's music is shooting him to superstardom around the world, but it turns out the rapper is setting his sights on the movie industry too.

Chance, born Chancelor Bennett, made waves in September, throwing the first music festival ever in Chicago's south side; the Magnificent Colouring Day Festival, featuring John Legend, Alicia Keys, Skrillex, Tyler the Creator and more.

But while everyone had their eyes on the festival, Chance was also off starring in a movie.

Produced by A24, Slice was shot during the US summer in Chicago - totally under the radar, Deadline reports.

Obviously, not much is known about Chance's secret film except that it was written and directed by Austin Vesely and, according to Deadline, follows an outlaw framed for a killing spree which targets pizza delivery boys.

A24 is the production company behind last year's best picture Oscar nominee Room, and Austin Vesely has been closely linked to Chance throughout his career.

He's worked on videos for Chance's hits 22 Offs, Brain Cells, Juice, Sunday Candy and, more recently Angels, in which he turned Chance into an angel flying over trains and dancing in the streets.

Chance the Rapper will be in New Zealand later this year to headline Rhythm and Vines. He'll play on December 29 on the Vines Stage at the festival, held at Waiohika Estate in Gisborne.
